Negative Review Removal
Negative Review Removal for Businesses
Not every negative review can be removed — but many can. Reputation Medics runs a negative review removal service that identifies which of your one-star, two-star, or defamatory posts actually qualify under the platform's own content policies, then prepares and submits an evidence-backed removal request. We work across Google Business Profile, Yelp, Facebook, TripAdvisor, Trustpilot, Airbnb, Turo, and other major sites.
What counts as a removable negative review
Every major review platform publishes a content policy. A negative review can be removed only when it violates one of the policy categories the platform enforces. That includes fake accounts and paid engagement, off-topic content, conflicts of interest, harassment, prohibited content (private information, threats, discrimination), impersonation, and coordinated attacks. A negative review that does not fit any of those categories is not removable — no matter how unfair the business finds it.
Common categories we handle
One- and two-star reviews that violate platform policies — non-customer posts, off-topic complaints, wrong-location tagging, and prohibited content.
Reviews that state false facts as if true. We document the inaccuracy and cite the platform's harassment or defamation policy in the report.
Coordinated attacks and reviews clearly written to harm rather than to describe a real experience. Timestamp and account-history evidence is key.
Reviews from fake accounts, paid review farms, and identity-manipulated posts. Reported under fake-engagement policies with account-pattern evidence.
Reviews from accounts that also operate competing business pages in the same market — conflict of interest under Google, Yelp, and other platform policies.
Reviews from former employees posing as customers. Conflict of interest and, in the appropriate cases, moved to Glassdoor or Indeed where employer feedback belongs.
Negative review removal eligibility
- Reviews from people who were never customers, patients, or clients
- Off-topic complaints about a different business or unrelated event
- Reviews containing threats, discrimination, or personal information
- Reviews from competitors or former employees
- Reviews that state provable falsehoods as fact
- Genuine negative experiences from real customers
- Complaints about legitimate business decisions
- Reviews that criticize service quality accurately
- Star-only reviews without written policy-violating content
Eligibility depends on platform policies, evidence, authenticity, conflicts of interest, prohibited content, and other applicable violations. This list is illustrative — every review is analyzed individually.

When suppression is the right tool
When a negative review is genuine and cannot be removed under any platform policy, the right response is a review-response and reputation-repair strategy — not a removal attempt that will fail. We can help you design that plan too. Read review removal vs. review suppression for how the two approaches differ, or ask us during your consultation.
Negative review removal FAQs
- Can negative reviews be removed?
- Some can, most cannot. A negative review is only removable when it violates the platform's content policy — for example, when it is from a non-customer, contains prohibited content, or reflects a conflict of interest. Legitimate negative opinions from real customers stay up.
- What is the difference between negative review removal and bad review removal?
- The terms are used interchangeably. Both describe the process of reporting a low-rated review that violates a platform policy so the platform will remove it. Neither describes any way to force removal of a policy-compliant negative review.
- How does defamatory review removal work?
- Defamatory reviews — false statements of fact presented as true — are removable on most platforms under harassment, defamation, or false-information policies. We document the factual inaccuracy, cite the platform's relevant policy, and submit the report with evidence.
- Can malicious reviews from competitors be removed?
- Often yes. Reviews from competitors and their employees are conflicts of interest under most platforms' policies. Documentation — evidence that the reviewer runs or works at a competing business in the same market — typically supports a successful removal request.
- What if my negative reviews are honest but really damaging?
- Removal is not the right tool. When honest negative reviews are hurting the business, the answer is review response, service recovery, and steadily earning more positive reviews to shift the average. Reputation Medics can advise on that separately, but we will not attempt to remove reviews that comply with platform policies.
