How Do You Remove a Facebook Review or Recommendation?

Facebook reviews are now Recommendations, and Meta moderates them under Community Standards. Two paths exist, and they lead to different places.

Facebook does not have star reviews anymore

Meta replaced the old 1 to 5 star system with Recommendations. A visitor picks yes or no and writes a comment. Your Page shows how many people recommend the business, so a single bad recommendation carries visible weight on a Page with few of them.

Path one: report the recommendation

Meta removes content that breaks Community Standards. For business recommendations the relevant grounds are:

  • Spam or fake engagement, including coordinated posting and paid recommendations.
  • Bullying and harassment, including content targeting a named employee.
  • Hate speech, threats, or graphic content.
  • Content that is not about a genuine experience with the business.
  • Personal or private information posted without consent.

Report from the Page, choose the specific standard, and keep the report factual. Meta's first pass is largely automated. A declined report can be appealed, and an appeal that names a clearer standard and supplies evidence has a real chance where the first attempt did not.

Meta does not remove a recommendation for being negative or for being wrong about the facts of a visit.

Path two: turn Recommendations off

Page settings let you disable Recommendations. This hides all of them immediately, the positive ones included, and the count disappears from your Page.

It is a blunt tool. It works when a Page is under a coordinated attack and you need the bleeding to stop today. It hurts when recommendations were a real source of trust for your business, because turning them back on restores the bad content along with the good.

Most businesses are better served by filing on the specific content and keeping the Page intact.

What we charge

Facebook falls under other sites or harmful content at $497 per item. That covers Facebook Recommendations, Trustpilot, TripAdvisor, Glassdoor, BBB, Ripoff Report, Pissed Consumer, ComplaintsBoard, mugshot sites, court and arrest records, news articles, and blog posts.

Payment is upfront. If the item is not removed within 30 days, the item fee is refunded automatically. There is no guaranteed outcome, because the platform makes the final call.

Google reviews are $397 each and Yelp reviews are $697 each, since each platform has its own policy and its own escalation route.

One thing to do today

Screenshot the recommendation with the profile name and date, and check whether the account has posted the same text on other business Pages. Coordinated posting is the strongest evidence available for a spam or fake engagement report, and it disappears as soon as the accounts are deleted.
