For Burger King franchisees

The brand is national. Your rating is local.

Guests judge your restaurant by the stars next to your address, not the brand's. We help independent Burger King franchisees watch, protect and understand every store's online reputation — within Google's rules and your franchise agreement.

Guest satisfaction is moving in the right direction: Burger King scored 78 out of 100 in the 2026 American Customer Satisfaction Index, up from 77 in 2025, against a quick-service average of 79. Every store's guest experience — and how it shows up online — is part of closing that gap.

Your rating is set one store at a time

When BrightLocal gathered the Google reviews for every Burger King outlet in the USA in February 2023 — 7,216 restaurants — it found 4.06 million reviews, an average of 562 per restaurant, and an average rating of 3.5 stars.

The spread between stores is wide. New York, South Dakota and West Virginia share the highest state average at 3.7, New Hampshire sits lowest at 2.9, and only 24 states average 3.5 or above. The top-rated Burger King in the country — 3040 Ella Blvd in Houston, Texas — holds 4.4 stars. Meanwhile, BrightLocal's 2026 survey of 1,002 U.S. consumers found 68% will only use a business with four stars or more.

Burger King vs. McDonald's, state by state

Google reviews across U.S. Burger Kings

562

average reviews per restaurant

BrightLocal's head-to-head study compared the two brands' Google ratings in every state. Burger King had the better average rating in 23 states, McDonald's in 19 plus the District of Columbia, and the brands tied in eight.

The lesson for an owner is not the national scoreboard — it is that two stores under the same brand can look very different to a hungry guest scrolling a map. Your store's rating is yours to watch.

Burger King had the better average Google rating in 23 states; McDonald's won 19 plus D.C., with eight ties.

The top-rated Burger King in the USA — 3040 Ella Blvd, Houston, Texas — holds 4.4 stars.

When a store goes viral for the wrong reason

Any well-known store can be flooded with reviews tied to a news event rather than a visit. When this happened to a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania in December 2024, Google removed the reviews, telling Reuters: 'These reviews violate our policies and have been removed.' The same rules protect your Burger King restaurant.

Google's rules prohibit fake engagement, off-topic content such as 'general, political, or social commentary or personal rants,' and content posted from multiple accounts to manipulate a rating. Reviews like these can be reported. Reviews that are genuine but unflattering cannot — Google says not to report a review 'just because you disagree with it or dislike it.'

How we help Burger King franchisees

  1. 1Monitor

    Store-by-store review monitoring

We track new reviews and ratings for every restaurant you operate and flag drops, spikes and recurring complaints so your managers see them first.

  2. 2Flag

    Policy-based review reporting

We identify reviews that break Google's or Yelp's published rules — fake, off-topic, duplicate or abusive content — and document them for reporting through the platform's official process. The platform decides; we never promise removal.

  3. 3Report

    Review-bombing response

When a store is hit by a wave of reviews tied to a news event rather than a visit, we document the pattern and escalate it through the platform's reporting channels quickly.

  4. 4Insight

    Guest-feedback insight

We turn review text into a short, plain-English report per store: speed, accuracy, cleanliness, staff — so you know what guests are actually saying.

Review responses

Where you have access to your store's listing, we draft replies in your voice for you to approve.

What the research does — and doesn't — say

MythBetter stars = X% more revenue for every restaurant.

Fact

The best-known study of reviews and revenue (Luca, Harvard Business School) found a one-star Yelp increase raised revenue 5–9% for independent restaurants — but found that 'ratings do not affect restaurants with chain affiliation.' We don't claim a revenue percentage for Burger King stores, and you should be wary of anyone who does.

What the evidence does support: most consumers screen businesses by star rating and recency, expect owners to respond, and Google removes reviews that break its rules — including review-bombing.

What we will never do

  • Buy, write or incentivise reviews, or ask staff to post them.
  • Offer anything in exchange for a positive review or for removing a negative one.
  • Threaten or pressure reviewers.
  • Promise that a review will be removed. Google and Yelp make that decision.

The FTC's rule on consumer reviews (16 CFR Part 465), in force since October 21, 2024, allows civil penalties of up to $53,088 per violation for fake or bought reviews and review suppression.
