Separating Dining Reviews From Delivery Ratings
Google, Yelp, and Tripadvisor commonly host broad narratives about food, atmosphere, value, and service. OpenTable feedback may connect to a reservation experience, while DoorDash and Uber Eats ratings arise within ordering and delivery environments. Confirm where the content appears and which part of the experience it evaluates. Restaurant feedback and courier feedback may have different reporting paths, and the available controls for a written comment may differ from those for a rating without text.
A restaurant should not assume that an absent reservation or unmatched order name proves a review is invented. Walk-in guests, dining companions, group bookings, and orders placed under another person's account can complicate identification. Check the site's requirements and the content itself. Spam, prohibited harassment, impersonation, or clearly unrelated material may present policy questions, whereas dislike of a dish, a long wait, or disappointment with portion size ordinarily describes a subjective customer experience.
Preparing Evidence That Fits the Restaurant Complaint
Save the review wording, destination page, reviewer profile, and any visible context that helps explain the concern. If the content names a menu item the restaurant does not serve, investigate whether an older menu, special event, or another location explains the reference before claiming mistaken identity. A report is stronger when it addresses plausible alternatives honestly. The objective is to demonstrate a policy issue, not to build a general argument that the guest's opinion is unreasonable.
Order records, reservation notes, and delivery timestamps can help organize an internal assessment, but avoid forwarding unnecessary guest information. Redact contact details, payment information, and unrelated order history where appropriate. Staff recollections should be identified as recollections rather than presented as independent proof. For delivery complaints, distinguish what the restaurant can document from what occurred after handoff. Uncertainty about a courier's actions should not become an unsupported accusation or a blanket claim that all delivery-related criticism is invalid.
When the review expresses a genuine reaction to service or food, disagreement alone usually offers little basis for removal. More direct evidence may exist where a post contains unrelated promotion or explicitly reveals a prohibited conflict. Explain the exact passage and the relevant platform rule without exaggerating what the evidence establishes. If moderation leaves the content in place, assess any available appeal on its merits. Repeated reporting cannot be represented as a reliable route to deletion or improved ratings.
Federal Context for Restaurant Reviews
The FTC Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials (16 CFR Part 465) addresses specified deceptive review practices, including certain forms of review suppression. The Consumer Review Fairness Act of 2016 (15 U.S.C. 45b) concerns particular contractual restrictions on consumer feedback. These rules do not require a platform to delete every disputed account of a meal. This information is not legal advice about guest communications, review incentives, contractual terms, or a particular complaint.
Restaurant Review-Removal Support Pricing
Google $397/$372, Yelp $697/$672, other-platform items and harmful links $497/$472 per item (pay upon removal/pay in advance). Pay only after removal: save a card, pay nothing today, and pay the standard fee once removal is documented. Pricing and payment choices.
Advance-payment removal fees are refunded in full if a Google review is not removed within 30 days of payment, or a review or item on any other platform is not removed within 90 days of payment. Refunds are automatic: no claim, form, email or request needed. We issue the full refund to your original payment method within 5 business days after the applicable refund window ends.
Review Removal Support for Restaurants: questions
Can we challenge a delivery review that blames us for a courier delay?
Check whether the platform separates restaurant and courier feedback, then preserve relevant handoff information. A disputed delay is not automatically removable. The report should identify an applicable policy issue rather than simply assign responsibility elsewhere.
Does a missing reservation prove the reviewer never visited?
No. The guest may have walked in, joined another person's booking, or ordered without a reservation. Use the missing record as context, not conclusive evidence, and evaluate any additional facts against the platform's actual rules.
What if a review describes a dish we do not offer?
Check previous menus, specials, catering offerings, and possible location confusion before reporting. If the mismatch remains clear, explain it with relevant menu evidence. An unfamiliar dish name alone may not establish that the entire review is fabricated.
Can we remove a low app rating that has no written comment?
A rating without text can be difficult to assess because there is no narrative to compare with a policy. Check the app's reporting options and available order context without assuming that an unexplained low score is prohibited.
